THE CHALLENGE

Challenged by plant management to reduce injuries, a leading truck manufacturer had a number of hurdles to cross. Plant Job Safety Analyses were out of date and incomplete. With the constant change in production, the maintenance of the analysis remained a challenge.

THE SOLUTION

JSAplus Software was chosen to assist in identifying, documenting, and fixing job hazards. JSAplus allowed for quick data collection directly from the plant floor. Hazards were then ranked by type, severity, and likelihood of occurrence. Users were able to focus on the most hazardous jobs first, and use the Recommendation Management Features as a guide to control the problems. JSAplus’s ability for customization allowed for corporate specified standards and reports. To address the ever-changing plant environment, JSAplus was linked to the existing engineering software.

THE RESULTS

In under two months, Job Safety Analyses were completed throughout the entire plant facility. New injury prevention opportunities were identified and corrective action was taken. Standardized Work Instruction Reports were automatically issued from JSAplus and were displayed for workers to view. Reports are updated by engineering automatically. The plant is prepared for the Risk Assessment component of OHSAS 18001 certification.
